About Trish Hankins

Trish HankinsOn May 27, 2011 Trish tragically and unexpectedly passed away. Trish always had a love for children. She loved being a special education teacher for Peoria Unified School District, and was very active in various children’s ministry programs through her church. One of her favorite ministry programs was being a counselor at the West Coast Grace Youth Camp.

WCGYC GirlsTrish loved nothing more than being able to talk to children about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a very effective counselor as she led many young girls to accept Jesus into their heart and put their trust in Him.

In keeping with her passion for introducing children to the love of Jesus, this memorial fundraiser ride was created.

The Vision

WCGYC Girls 2Every year, for various reasons, some families do not have the financial resources to send their kids to youth camp in the summer. The vision for this fundraiser ride is to raise enough money so that regardless of their current financial situation, we can provide a way for every child to attend the youth camp. This is the true “No Child Left Behind” program.

The Camp

WCGYCMission: To reach unsaved kids for Christ and impact the lives of all kids toward growth and maturity in their life (walk) with Jesus Christ.

West Coast Grace Youth Camp, nestled in the Palomar Mountains north east of San Diego, is designed for kids from 4th grade through 12th grade to have a great time while helping them get to know God better. They learn more about the Bible and what God expects from them! In addition to learning about God through worship services and daily devotionals with their camp counselor, they also play in games and other fun activities. They will also meet new friends and build relationships; more importantly though, is the relationship they will discover, develop, and build with Christ our savior.

The Results

WCGYC Game Field2014 Camp Highlights:

  • An assembly of 8 Churches
  • 200 kids attended camp
  • 45 adults volunteered
  • Of which the Phoenix churches sent 59 kids to camp, and 21 volunteers
  • 21 campers came to know Christ as their personal savior for the first time, and many other already saved campers recommitted their lives to Christ.
